DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

The CHA Cardio-vascular department, under the direction of the Cardiology Medical Director and Network Cardiovascular Manager provides a variety of diagnostic testing services, including Stress Tests, Cardiac ultrasound, vascular testing, event and Holter monitors.

Responsibilities:

• Performing all required vascular examinations in accordance with established protocols & correct positioning of patient and equipment.

• Selecting appropriate protocols and parameters• PACS image management and documentation Identifies each patient, reviews each patient requisition for completeness of demographic data and consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis.

• Serves as a resource for correcting unclear or erroneous information.

• Obtains and relays pertinent clinical information to the vascular MD 

• Ensures patient safety through the course of their stay in the vascular lab

• Records all pertinent data in PACS. (Technologists initials, explanation for limited procedure etc.) 

• Evaluates each image/examination for technical accuracy assuring quality exam, releases completed examinations to the reading vascular MD Communicates pertinent data to nurse responsible for the care of the patient as needed Identifies anatomical orientation on all images, and insures proper marker identification on every image.

• Coordinates imaging examinations to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care

• Manages the workflow through the department to ensure the timely completion of all work.

• Demonstrates ability to organize care and set priorities by providing critical care first and by implementing physician’s orders.

• Responds appropriately to abrupt changes in work schedule, handles interruptions by reallocating resources to the area of greatest need.

• Performs proper computer skills to include• procedure editing

• Status changes• Ability to reprint requisitions, labels

• Ability to reorder procedures ordered incorrectly

• Ability to print “Daily Log” list

• Ability to utilize Electronic Medical record (EMR) & EPIC to review patient data• Ability to print signed report as needed

• Ability to operate PACS


Requirements:

  • HS/GED required
  • Registered Vascular Technologist RVT or RVS.
