The Cardiovascular Division of the Department of Medicine provides inpatient and outpatient cardiac sonography, nuclear and exercise stress tests, stress echocardiograms, vascular testing, holter and event monitors and interrogation reports of implantable devices. The manager will have a strong cardiac background. 

Job Purpose/Primary Management Functions

Responsible for the day to day operations of the cardiovascular laboratory at CHA’s Cambridge and Everett Campuses, with a presence required at both sites. Provide supervision and oversight to the cardiovascular staff including clinical, technical and administrative staff, in accordance with JC and IAC guidelines. 
Act as the liaison between the cardiovascular division, clinicians and providers at CHA and outside organizations as needed. Policy development with assistance of key stakeholders in each discipline, and document control of department policies with the assistance of key department stakeholders in each discipline implement a staff development program. 
Implement an Annual Competency Assessment program. 
Provide oversight of staff and patient schedules. 
Assist the Lead Sonographer to assure studies are interpreted and signed off in accordance with expected CHA and IAC (International Accreditation Committee) guidelines. 
Assist the Lead Sonographer to maintain IAC accreditation and monitor quality improvement measures. 
Maintain and expand the scope of IAC accreditation for Echocardiography and Vascular Studies. 
Oversee the Cardiovascular IT liaison to the IT department, including HL7 interface implementation and software updates; troubleshooting interface issues
Oversee the timely reporting for the service.Monitor and ensure quality of reporting. 
Work with the Division to maintain satisfactory volumes of all procedures. 
Ensure appropriate allocation of staff and resources. 
Develop and monitor staff and department initiatives to grow and add value to the department. 
Responsible for the hiring, management, discipline and annual performance appraisals for all staff. Maintain fiscal responsibility within the division’s annual budget. 
Assist the Director with budget planning and capital requests. 
Assist the Director on budget preparation 
Work closely with the Chiefs of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine to implement quality improvement projects, workflow improvement and implementation of best practice guidelines related to the cardiovascular lab. 
Assure all staff perform procedures in compliance with CHA Infection Prevention and Control policy. 
Create a culture of safety and patient experience of excellence. 
A commitment to the CHA Service Standards. 

Qualifications/Requirements: 

EDUCATION: Possess a BS, Graduate of an approved Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or a BSN, Master preferred. 

REGISTRATION: Current AHA BLS Certification 

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3 years outpatient cardiology supervisory experience preferred.
