DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

At CHA, our food service department plays an important role in the satisfaction of our patients and colleagues. Food service team members enhance the patient stay by delivering three quality meals a day to the patient’s bedside. Our Expressly for You program assigns each patient a dedicated Food Service Host/Hostess to take care of all of their dining needs. Meal orders are taken bedside and entered electronically via a tablet computer. This system interfaces with the hospital medical system, allowing for our hosts/hostesses to understand each patient’s unique dietary needs. In addition, the food service department operates a recently renovated cafeteria that caters to staff members and the general public including a salad bar with fresh and local ingredients, hot soups made fresh daily, a deli station, and an entrée station featuring favorite dishes. There is also a mix of snack and beverages, along with full daily breakfast offerings.   


Summary:
Under the general supervision of dietitian accurately provides patients with appropriate trays at mealtimes and as requested.

Responsibilities:
• Accurately setup, deliver and retrieve trays for patients at mealtimes and as requested.
• Empty patients’ trays in dish room.
• Stock kitchenettes, rotate food supplies and check codes of supplies.
• Record calls for late trays in telephone logs.
• Performs duties of dishwasher as needed (see dishwasher position description).
• Understands and practices hospital/departmental safety guidelines and procedures including general safety, office safety, fire safety, proper body mechanics and proper patient/material handling

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Equivalent to two years of High School. Must be able to read and write English and follow directions / 2 weeks on the job training with dietitian, “buddy diet aide”, diet supervisor and food service director. More training will be provided (time allowing) as needed. Requires up to one month to become more proficient at job.
Work Experience: Desirable but not required.
